The compact bone is made up of many Haversian systems.
Locate a Haversian system and identify the following structures:
Haversian canal(light yellow) containing blood vessels, concentric
arrangement of osteocytes in lacunae(black) and canaliculi.
Note the different shapes and sizes of the Haversian canals. Can you
recognize any Volkman's canals in your section?
These are canals interconnecting the Haversian canals. Draw a Haversian
system.
