Cardiovascular System

Heart , Sheep

The cardiac muscle fibres are arranged in bundles. Examine these muscle bundles.

Locate the bundles of Purkinje fibres(specialized cardiac muscle fibres) on the subendothelial surface and note their distinguishing features.

The nucleus of the fibre is centrally placed.

The empty-looking space in the perinuclear zone represents the site where glycogen accumulation was washed out during slide preparation.

Scattered amongst the muscle fibres are densely nucleated oval patches that represent protozoal parasites infesting the sheep.
