Under X10 objective, locate pars distalis, pars intermedia and pars nervosa. The pars distalis shows numerous cappilaries amongst the chromophils and chromophobes. Pars intermedia contains follicles with colloid. Pars nervosa contains numerous nerve fibres(axons of neurosecretory cells) and pituicytes. In the pars nervosa, the stored neurosecretory material appears as the Herring bodies(acidophilic). Where are the perikarya of the neurosecretory cells located? Review the types of hormones secreted by these cells.
