Lower and upper oesophagus

Identify the typical stratified squamous epithelium, lamina propria and muscularis mucosa. In the submucosa, note the presence of blood vessels. Muscularis externa -- inner circular and outer longitudinal muscle layers with the myenteric plexus between them. Adventitia has large nerve bundles. Also look at slides for middle oesophagus, monkey. Do you see any glands in the submucosa?
