Lymphoid Tissue

Spleen, Monkey, Human, Puppy

Under low power, identify its covering capsule. Many fibrous trabeculae carrying blood vessels extend into the splenic pulp from the capsule. "White pulp"(= PALS and lymphatic follicles) is scattered throughout the section. It contains densely populated lymphocytes. Between the white pulp is the "red pulp". This is made up of the cords of Billroth(splenic cords) and sinuses(narrow spaces between the cords). Cords and sinuses are evident. Name the cells that are found in the splenic cords.

Examine the reticular fibres forming the framework of the spleen.
