To commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Department and to showcase the Genome-wide Association Studies (GWAS) conducted at the Centre for Molecular Epidemiology (CME), the GWAS seminar- Genome-wide association studies: now and beyond, will be held on Friday, 21st November 2008.
GWAS have identified many novel genetic variants that mediate disease susceptibility in populations. The aim of this seminar is to review the progress made in current GWAS studies today and the next steps in disease association for tomorrow. In particular, Prof Chia Kee Seng will be sharing with us his views on the future of GWAS studies and Dr Paul Brennan from the International Agency for Research on Cancer will present findings from the GWAS on Lung Cancer.
