About the Roundtable Discussion
Advances in genomics have led to mounting expectations with regard to their impact on healthcare and disease prevention. In light of this, a comprehensive research agenda is urgently needed to move human genome discoveries into health practice in a way that maximizes health benefits and minimizes harm to individuals and populations.
To percolate current thinking about genomics and population health into a credible roadmap leading us confidently into the future, the Centre for Molecular Epidemiology (CME), Scripps Genomic Medicine and the University of Otago are inviting experts from New Zealand, Sweden, United States, United Kingdom to interact with NUS faculty and collaborators from the Ministry of Health, Agency for Science Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS), in a Roundtable Discussion.
The Roundtable Discussion will consist of 5 Panel Presentations, each with 4-5 speakers. Each speaker will make a 15-20 minute presentation followed by a 45-60 minute discussion, chaired by 2 chairpersons. At the end of the 3 days, a list of conclusions and recommendations will be made. We hope the proceedings will be bring intellectual insight to this complex topic through lively, informal exchanges.
