As part of the 60 th Anniversary Celebrations, the SEED (Singapore Epidemiology of Eye Diseases) symposium 2008 - Prevalence, Risk Factors, Biomarkers, Genetics, and Clinical Implications will be held on Monday, 13th October 2008 at the Singapore National Eye Centre.
The Singapore Epidemiology of Eye Disease (SEED) programme serves to initiate, coordinate and conduct clinical and epidemiologic research in ophthalmology and vision diseases in Singapore and throughout Asia . SEED aims to determine the epidemiology, impact and risk factors for visual impairment, cataract, myopia, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
In alignment with the SEED programme, the aim of this symposium is to discuss the major issues and findings on prevalence, incidence, risk factors and impact of major eye diseases in Asia , and associations with systemic diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and its impact on quality of life.
