To
commemorate the 60th Anniversary of
the COFM department, a very special
orchid hybrid the Dendrobium
COFM was bred by
the eminent horticulturist Mr Koh Keng
Hoe. Dendrobium COFM, a new hybrid species
registered with the UK Royal Horticultural
Society, was launched by our Dean, Prof
John Wong, on
22 January 2008. This
is the first of a series of events to
commemorate our 60th Anniversary.
Following
our Orchid launch, we will be holding
our MPH
Night on 27
February 2008. We are
very honoured to have Prof Harvey Fineberg,
President, Institute of Medicine, USA,
grace this occasion. Some of our MPH students
are actively involved and the MPH Nite
will be truly memorable.
The
grand finale will be our COFM
symposium, an open
house and a celebratory
dinner in mid-October
2008. The speakers in
the Symposium include Prof Tan Chorh Chuan,
the Senior Deputy President of the University
speaking on the "A global perspective
of public health: the next lap", and Prof
Mimi Yu on the "Epidemiology of Cancer".
