Teaching Excellence

University Outstanding Educator Award

The University Outstanding Educator Award is given out annually to acknowledge faculty members who have excelled in engaging and inspiring students in their discovery of knowledge.

2008

Associate Professor Erle Lim from the Department of Medicine came to academia relatively late in life. "I had never thought of myself as a ‘brainiac’. Over the years, however, I have realised two things that made me decide on a career as a clinician-scholar/teacher: Firstly, one does not need to be a genius to teach well. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, I am a pretty good teacher."

2004

Associate Professor Rajendran Kanagasuntheram from the Department of Anatomy has developed several multi-media learning tools - Gross Anatomy, Embryology and Anatomy Museum - to encourage learning from concepts to details and discourage rote learning. A/Prof Kanagasuntheram would like to contribute towards a new perception of Human Anatomy as something not just beautiful to behold but interesting, exciting, dynamic and above all, fun to learn. One of his multi-media learning tools, Gross Anatomy (Anatomy of the Neck), is used as a teaching resource by the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Rochester, Minnesota.
