WHO visit on 3rd April 07
Our School was honored on the April 3rd, 2007, with the visit of a distinguished alumnus, Dr Margaret Chan, Director General of the World Health Organization.
Dr Chan gave a lecture at her alma mater on the topic, "Public health in the 21st century: optimism in the midst of unprecedented challenges", at the University Cultural Centre.
A graduate of COFM's Masters in Public Health programme, Dr Chan showed her outstanding leadership in combating the Hong Kong avian flu outbreak in 1997. Dr Chan remains in touch with our School, serving as external examiner for the MSc (Public Health) examinations in 2005.
The University paid tribute to Dr Chan by displaying her old photographs and thesis at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Museum.
