Just Great! - Operation Theatre 2 Charity Musical
Operation Theatre II: "Just Great!", a musical staged by the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Medical Society and the student body, was held on the 4th and 5th January 2008 at the University Cultural Centre, and was the first-ever charitable production of the biennial musical. All proceeds from the ticket sales went to the Medical Students' Bursary Fund, a fund set up in 2007 to help needy medical students with their living expenses whilst in medical school.
For the Fund Raising Event held on 5th January, the Gala Night of the Musical, NUS President Shih Choon Fong graced the event as the Guest of Honour. The evening included a cocktail reception for our VIP guests where a private bidding of two Banyan Tree villas at Lijiang and Ringha, sponsored by Mr. Ho Kwon Ping, the Executive Chairman of Wah Chang/Thai Wah Group, was conducted in support of the Medical Students’ Bursary Fund.
The School welcomed more than 1,500 guests from the medical fraternity, alumni and friends, who attended the Gala event to lend their support to medical students in financial hardship.
This event, which capped the School's finale to an active year of fund raising for needy medical students, raised approximately S$50,000 for the Medical Students’ Bursary Fund. Together with the funds that were raised earlier, the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine successfully surpassed its target of raising $1 million towards the Medical Students' Bursary Fund in 2007.
