FINAL MASTER OF MEDICINE (OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY) EXAMINATION PREPARATORY COURSE

(Note: 11 Mar is a half-day session)

Application:

Applicants are required to submit an online application, via DGMS Online System for Course Applications (OSCA): https://medworks.nus.edu.sg/osca/home.aspx. All applications (inclusive of the non-refundable SGD20 application fees) must reach DGMS by the closing date as stipulated above. Late or incomplete applications will not be entertained.

The following documents must be submitted together with the application:

  • 1 passport-sized photograph (image has to be 400 x 514 pixels)
  • Certified true copy of following documents (Official English translations will be required for stamps or certificates sent that are not in English):
    • Basic medical degree certificate (MBBS)
    • NRIC : for locals / Permanent Residents
    • Employment Pass and Passport : for foreigners (residing in Singapore)

Photocopies of certificates and/or official translations (in English)* including any other offical supporting documents will be accepted only if they have been prepared and/or authenticated by one of the following:

  • the issuing University or Medical School;
  • Medical Council of which you are registered and licensed to practice
  • Government Ministries of Health;
  • a notary public or Justice of the Peace;
  • Division of Graduate Medical Studies (DGMS) - For authentication by DGMS office, original certificates and documents must be produced.

* Candidates must submit an authenticated translation if their official supporting documents is not in English. A fresh ink stamp must be used to authenticate the copy or translation of the primary medical qualification.

Candidates who fail to present their original documents for verification without acceptable reasons will not be admitted to the course.

Candidates whose original documents have been damaged or misplaced must apply to the relevant organizations / authorities for replacements or letters of verification.

DGMS is not obliged to give any reasons for unsuccessful applications.

Withdrawal Policy:

If candidate decides to withdraw after placement is confirmed, he/she must write in to DGMS.

  1. If written notice of withdrawal is received before the acceptance of placement deadline, a refund, less the application fee will be made.
  2. If written notice of withdrawal is received after the acceptance of placement deadline, or the candidate fails to attend the course for any reason, no refund will be administered.

FINAL MASTER OF MEDICINE (OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY) EXAMINATION

Oral: Thursday, 27 April 2017

Please note that the Final Master of Medicine (Otorhinolaryngology) Examination (Final MMed (ORL) Exam) is only open to applicants who are employed in approved local hospitals on a long term and full-time basis.

All applicants must read the instructions, rules and regulations (as stated in the link below before submitting the application).

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. In order to be admitted to Final MMed (ORL) Exam, a candidate must have met the following conditions:
    • Obtained the MRCS or equivalent
    • Completed 12 months full time posting in Otorhinolaryngology department(s) by 31 December 2016

    Only MRCS (ENT) obtained in 2015 and earlier will be admissible as MRCS (Surgery) equivalent for 2017 and 2018 Final MMed (ORL) Exam diets. From 2019 onwards, only MRCS (Surgery) will be recognized as the basic surgical component in Final MMed (ORL). .


  2. The candidates will undergo an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) which assesses practical knowledge and clinical skills and an oral assessment.

Candidates must meet all requirements stated above by DGMS to be awarded the MMed (ORL) degree. Other respective rules/ regulations of DGMS governing the conduct of the Final MMed (ORL) will apply.
