FINAL MASTER OF MEDICINE (PAEDIATRIC MEDICINE)/ MRCPCH CLINICAL EXAM PREPARATORY COURSE

Format:

The 5 day full‐time course is designed to prepare candidates for the Final Master of Medicine (Paediatric Medicine) / MRCPCH (UK) Clinical Examination. The course will provide opportunities to hone your communication and consultation skills and in short cases including developmental assessment. The teaching faculty will comprise a mixture of local Consultants and an invited Visiting Lecturer. Course participants are expected to do all their preliminary readings before the commencement of the course.

Application:

All interested applicants will need to create an account and submit an online application via DGMS Online System for Course Application (OSCA) by the stipulated deadline, 2359hrs (local time).

All applications and fees must be made online by the closing date as stipulated above. Late or incomplete applications will not be entertained. Applications received through mail, courier or email will not be accepted.

The following documents must be submitted with the online application:

  • 1 passport‐sized photograph (image in jpeg format has to be 400 x 514 pixel)
  • Certified true copy of following documents :
    • MBBS Certificate
    • NRIC for Singapore Citizen / Permanent Resident
    • Employment Pass and Passport for foreigners residing in Singapore
    • Passport for foreigners residing outside Singapore

Photocopies of certificates and/or official translations (in English)* including any other offical supporting documents will be accepted only if they have been prepared and/or authenticated by one of the following:

  • the issuing University or Medical School;
  • Medical Council of which you are registered and licensed to practice
  • Government Ministries of Health;
  • a notary public or Justice of the Peace;
  • Division of Graduate Medical Studies (DGMS) - For authentication by DGMS office, original certificates and documents must be produced.

* Candidates must submit an authenticated translation if their official supporting documents is not in English. A fresh ink stamp must be used to authenticate the copy or translation of the primary medical qualification.

Candidates who fail to present their original documents for verification without acceptable reasons will not be admitted to the course.

Candidates whose original documents have been damaged or misplaced must apply to the relevant organizations / authorities for replacements or letters of verification.

DGMS is not obliged to give any reasons for unsuccessful applications.

Withdrawal Policy:

Notice of withdrawal from the course must be given in writing to the Division accompanied by the Tax Invoice (receipt) for fee paid. The entire fee, less application fee, will be refunded when notice of withdrawal is received by Wednesday, 1 March 2017. Those who withdraw after this date or who are absent from the course will not receive any refund of the course fees.

FINAL MASTER OF MEDICINE (PAEDIATRIC MEDICINE) / MRCPCH CLINICAL EXAMINATION

Wednesday, 21 June 2017 – Tuesday, 25 July 2017

Eligibility Criteria:

Subject to satisfying the eligibility criteria, applicants may choose to apply to any 1 of the following exams:

Exam Option A: Final MMed (Paediatric Medicine) / MRCPCH (UK) Clinical Exam (also known as “Joint Exam”)
Exam Option B: Final Master of Medicine (Paediatric Medicine) Exam only
Exam Option C: MRCPCH (UK) Clinical Exam only

Doctors who are undergoing the Paediatric Medicine Residency Training Programme in Singapore are mandated to take the Final MMed (Paediatric Medicine) Exam (all parts/sections).

Criteria:

  1. All applicants must hold a recognized medical qualification and need not be residing or practising in Singapore.
  2. Admission to the MRCPCH (UK) Clinical Exam held in Singapore will be restricted to candidates who are entitled to practise and currently hold posts either in Singapore/ Malaysia/ Brunei/ Nepal/ Myanmar or have graduated in Medicine in one of these countries. They must have been domiciled in the countries for not less than six months.

Posting requirement for Final Master of Medicine (Paediatrics) Clinical Examination admission:

Candidates must have completed at least 24 months of hospital postings as follows:

  1. At least 12 months of General Paediatrics and its relevant Paediatric medical specialties’ postings
  2. At least 4 months of Neonatology posting and
  3. At least 8 months of recognized elective postings which may include Paediatric subspecialties or General Paediatrics
  4. Local candidates in the Paediatric Medicine Residency Training Programme will have their applications for the examination to be supported by their Programme Director.

Admission:

Each diet of exam is capped at 36 exam placements.  Priority will be given to eligible applicants who are in the Paediatric Medicine Residency Training Programme in Singapore.  Receipt of the application does not guarantee an admission to the exam.  For successful applicants, the admission document will be emailed approximately 6 weeks prior to the exam date from DGMS, NUS office.

Application:

Separate applications are required for the respective exam(s):

  • Final MMed (Paediatric Medicine) Exam: Online application via Graduate Admission System (GDA2) . A step-by-step guide to applying online can be found here.
  • MRCPCH (UK) Clinical Exam: Paper application which needs to reach DGMS, NUS by the closing date.  The completed application form together with payment should be attention to:

Withdrawal Policy:

The respective NUS and MRCPCH withdrawal guidelines would apply. Notice of withdrawal from the MMed exam must be given in writing to DGMS, NUS. The entire MMed exam fee could be refunded if a notice of withdrawal is received no later than two (2) weeks after the closing date. Those who withdraw or change the exam option from A to C after this date or who are absent from the exam will not receive any refund of the MMed exam fees.
