Goal Of The Pharmacology
Course
To provide an understanding
of the pharmacological basis of therapeutics and thereby to promote
the safe and rational use of drugs in the treatment of human diseases.
General Objectives
At the end of this course, the student should
be able to:
describe the fundamental pharmacological mechanisms involved
in determining drug efficacy
|
apply this knowledge in optimizing drug dosages and in the solution
of simple
therapeutic
problems |
describe the organ-specific and disease-specific mechanisms
of drug action |
anticipate toxicity based on known mechanisms of drug action
|
describe the integrated processes involved in drug selection
and dosage optimisation in
the management of simple clinical problems |
describe the pharmacology of commonly used drug classes |
