POSTGRADUATE TRAINING

Range of services

The Department's services are organized along three lines, i.e Inpatient Psychiatry, Outpatient psychiatry and Consultation-liaison psychiatry. There are other established clinics in child psychiatry, insomnia, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Support groups as well as day unit meetings are also regularly held in the department's facilities. Larger public seminars held at central venues are a regular feature of the Department's working calendar.

Rounds:

Ward Rounds with clinic supervision are conducted daily.

Mentoring System:

The trainee will have one-to-one meetings with his or her designated supervisor regularly.

Lectures and Tutorials:

Every week, formal teaching sessions on the following

Psychotherapy topics will be held:

  • Behaviour Therapy
  • Cognitive Therapy
  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Marital Therapy

Weekly Child psychiatry training sessions

Other activities to enhance the training programme includes the Grand Teaching Round and the Journal club/Lecture.

Research:

Trainees are expected to participate in research projects and are to publish a joint paper during their stint with the Department.

Advanced Specialty Training

The Department is a JCAST accredited centre for Advanced Specialty training in Psychiatry and Family Medicine.
