  Bipolar Disorder Psycho-Education Programme
   
 

Objective

To provide information relating to Bipolar disorder which is necessary to:

  • Enable the individuals to learn self management of their condition.
  • Understand the issues surrounding medications used.
  • Enable families to collaborate with the affected individuals in adding more disease-free days to their lives.

Topics covered

What is bipolar disorder, causes of bipolar disorder, treatment options, relapse prevention, compliance, role of schedule and sleep, mood diary and impact on family, self-management, early warning intervention.

Length of Program

This program consist of review of 4 classes at one class per month.
  • Introduction to disorder
  • Family education
  • Self-management
  • Medication and compliance
Who is it suitable for?
  • Patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder
  • Patients already taking treatment for bipolar disorder
  • Relatives who are either concerned or are main caregivers

Patients can be referred by Bipolar clinic or any staff in the Department of Psychological Medicine.

Cost: S$22.50 per class
Venue: Neuroscience Clinic
Time: 1st and 3rd Monday, 9.30 to 11.00 am
