Immunomodulatory activities of soluble CD137

We have identified soluble forms of the cytokine receptor CD137 (sCD137) in man and mouse. Usually, soluble receptor isoforms are antagonistic. The proposed project aims to characterize the biological activities of sCD137 and to analyze its association with disease states, and its diagnostic and prognostic potential. Also, anti-CD137 monoclonal antibodies are being developed for cancer immunotherapy, and sCD137 may allow the selection of patients which respond best to this therapy.
