Liver Tissue Engineering & Bio-Imaging Projects
With the advanced cell technologies developed in our group,
we embark on the journey of micro-fabricating scaffolds and micro-channels and
developing other enabling technologies to build complex tissues such as liver
pieces with both structures and functions that mimic or surpass those found in
situ. We also take advantages of the sophisticated optical microscopy systems
available in the group to observe and quantify tissue regeneration and construct
integration in animal tissues and organs.
- Micro-fabricate multidimensional scaffolds for hepatocytes and
stem/progenitor cell co-cultures
- Precise control of cell-cell and cell-substrata interaction
- Bio-artificial liver-assisted devices
- Use of non-linear optics and other modalities to image and quantify
tissue dynamics intra-vitally
- Preservation and storage of hepatocytes, microencapsulated hepatocytes
and bioreactors
