Immunology and Inflammation Programme

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the Department of Physiology.

The Immunology and Inflammation Programme in the department is involved in the study of immune mechanisms in the inflammatory process, T cell biology and development and immunogenetics. Lupus or SLE is a systemic autoimmune disease affecting significant numbers of individuals among Orientals and is used a model immune-mediated disease for study. A classical whole genome scan of a murine model of lupus has provided useful clues as to the genetic loci involved in lupus. Association studies and SNP studies in human lupus will provide further genetic information about the disease. In addition, studies on immunoregulation, immune cell signaling, T cell biology and development complement the genetic studies and provide further clues on the autoimmune process as well as contributions to the inflammatory response. Discoveries in this area will be useful in the treatment of lupus and other autoimmune and inflammatory disorders.

Candidates are expected to possess a PhD or MD/PhD with appropriate postdoctoral experience in the areas mentioned. In particular, experience with genomics or proteomics will be useful in the research and teaching areas.

Assistant/Associate Professor level appointees will be expected to compete for independent research funding and are required to participate in undergraduate and/or graduate level teaching.

Remuneration will commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Interested parties should send their resume, research plan and six names of referees immediately to:
